Warren Shadd, drummer and nephew of Shirley Horn, asked me to perform a few songs for his Christmas FB series. I chose a couple of my original holiday hits, “Give me love at Christmas time”, and “Lonely New Year’s Day”. The first was born of my distaste for Christmas commercialism, and the second is a reflection on a balmy Los Angeles holiday I spent alone. Thanks to the wonderful Nicole Saphos for spending some time with these tunes, and adding lovely harmonies! Happy Holidays!

Sunday May 7 I began a series of workshops/concerts in Venice. We had a beautiful afternoon of improvising and presenting new compositions.

I wrote this tune to lyrics by my friend and lovely poet Michalle Gould. It’s not perfect sound quality, but we had a wonderful trip to the midwest, and I wanted to share it. Amy K Bormet Piano/Vocals, Maggie Hasspacher Bass/Vocals, Matt Dievendorf, Guitar. Live at Canterbury House in Ann Arbor, MI 8/21/14.

Matt and I had a really wonderful weekend in Ann Arbor with Maggie Hasspacher, and in Ft. Wayne with Andrew Kratzat for his “Meet the Artist” Series. We are filled with so much love for all of family and friends that greeted us. Big thank you to the Kratzat family for hosting our reunion. Hope to see you again soon Midwest! #goblue #AKation
