Pianist, vocalist, and songwriter Amy K Bormet created the Washington Women in Jazz Festival (WWJF), now in its 14th year, to connect with, support, and collaborate with women jazz musicians in Washington, DC and beyond. Working with vocalist and arranger Taylor Young, Bormet’s latest musical project adds layers of rich vocal harmonies. Fusing soulful melodies, introspective lyrics, and captivating arrangements the Amy K Bormet Trio (with bassist Karine Chapdelaine and drummer Angel Bethea) adds three creative vocalists (Taylor Young, Samiyah Muhammad, Taylar Lee) to become a sextet, elevating the music to emotional heights.
