I originally wrote “Lightning” for Afro Blue and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra in 2009 while I was in grad school. What a treat to have it performed again 15 years later at the Kennedy Center’s concert hall with the National Symphony Orchestra! With a Leigh Pilzer solo!
